Following the Lord’s Road Signs
I recently took a road trip, and one thing jumped out at me more than any other time - just how many road signs there were. Every few hundred feet, another sign either told me what roads were ahead, what supplies I could find, or what attractions might entice me.
During our journey, we rely on these signs to make sure we follow the right path to our destination. We are guided on where to stop and refuel, and to know when we arrive at our destination.
As a believer, we have the exact same benefit!
Isaiah 30:21 - Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left.”
Throughout the Bible, we’re given examples of how God guides us to the destination He has for us. For example, look at Israel when they left Egypt.
Exodus 13:21 - And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of cloud to lead the way, and by night in a pillar of fire to give them light, so as to go by day and night.
Our daily walk is a journey towards the destiny and calling that God has for us. You might not know what your destiny is. You might even feel you’re already walking in it. Either way, if you’re here and you’re reading this, your journey is not over!
Think about this Scripture that we all know:
Psalm 23:2-4 - He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness. For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
No matter the situation we find ourselves in, the Lord is with us. He never leaves us or forsakes us!
Isaiah 58:11 - The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
To me, the most important word there is CONTINUALLY! Praise Jesus! We are not walking through this life alone! As long as we’re here, we have more to learn.
John 16:13 - However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.
How exciting is that? The Spirit of the Lord, that Spirit of truth will guide us, instruct us, and tell us what’s to come? Has God revealed anything to you recently? Have you asked Him to? Did you know you could?
What guideposts and signs are you following? Are they leading you to a closer walk with the Lord, or are they leading you towards distractions and thoughts that aren’t of the Lord? I’m believing that with each and every day, you find yourself closer to the Lord, traveling on the journey He has for you.
Philippians 1:6 - being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;
Be blessed my friends!
